This large Taoist temple complex, rebuilt in 1993, is on the opposite bank of the Shing Mun
River channel. It's dedicated to Che Kung, a Song-dynasty general credited with ridding Sha
Tin of the plague. The best time to visit the temple is on the third day of Chinese New Year,
when hordes of worshippers come here to rotate the sails of the copper windmill inside the
temple for good luck.

UNIVERSITY SIGHTS
Chinese University of Hong Kong ( GOOGLE MAP ; 2609 7000; www.cuhk.edu.hk ;

making time to see the university's art museum ( GOOGLE MAP ;

10am-5pm, closed public holi-
days) . The four-floor East W
alleriies house a permanent collection of Chinese
paintings and calligraphy, but it is the ceramics and jade objets d'art that are espe-
cially worth inspecting, including 2000-year-old bronze seals and a large collection of
jade flower carvings. The West W

Other than that, the llotus p
us pond in Chung Chi Campus (you'll see it when you step
out of the train station) is a photogenic spot, especially when the lotuses are blooming
in spring; and the Pavilio

views of Tolo Harbour.
A shuttle bus from University station travels through the campuses. The bus runs
every 20 to 30 minutes daily and is free.
