EATING
Kowloon doesn't have quite as many upmarket restaurants as Hong Kong Is-
land but there's a riveting assortment of Chinese and Asian eateries to fit all
budgets in Tsim Sha Tsui. For hearty local fare, head for Yau Ma Tei or Mong
Kok. Kowloon City is renowned for its many Thai eateries.
Tsim Sha Tsui
VEGETARIAN, ASIAN
YOGA INTERACTIVE VEGETARIAN
Hillview Ct, Tsim Sha Tsui;meals HK$200; noon-3pm & 7-10pm; ; Jordan, exit D)
The Asian vegetarian here, cooked by a yoga teacher, is among the best in town. But you'll
need to book at least a week in advance. That said, if there's only one or two of you, they
might be able to fit you in sooner. This homey place is one flight of stairs above the 14th
floor.
INDIAN, VEGETARIAN
WOODLANDS
Tsui;meals HK$70-180; noon-3.30pm & 6.30-10.30pm; ; East Tsim Sha Tsui, exit P1)
Located above a department store, good old Woodlands offers excellent-value Indian veget-
arian food to compatriots and the odd local. Dithering gluttons should order the
thali
meal,
which is served on a round metal plate with 10 tiny dishes, a dessert and bread.
SOUTHEAST ASIAN
GOOD SATAY
Tsui;meals from HK$80; noon-10pm; East Tsim Sha Tsui, exit P2)
This place on the 1st floor of a dowdy shopping and office complex doesn't look promising
but its Southeast Asian cooking is great value for money. We loved the stir-fried turnip cake,
and satays. It's packed at lunch.
NORTHERN CHINESE
PEKING DUMPLING SHOP
11.30am-11.30pm; Jordan, exit D)
