Mock cells, gallows and flogging stands are the gruesome draws at this museum, about
500m southeast of Stanley Village Rd, which traces the history of jails, prisons and other
forms of incarceration in Hong Kong.

A short walk south of Stanley village is this great little bolthole which comes handily with a
cafe, showers and changing rooms. In summer you can hire windsurfing boards and kayaks
from the water-sports centre.

Shek O beach has a large expanse of sand, shady trees to the rear, showers, changing facilit-
ies and lockers for rent.
EATING
Choices in Shek O and Repulse Bay are sparse, but you'll still manage to eat
decently, and enjoy the views on the coast. Stanley boasts the largest number
of midrange restaurants, with a few standing out. Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau
are home to a few hidden gems if you dig beneath the kitsch.
