This private three-floor museum houses two exquisite collections - antique Chinese fur-
niture from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and Chinese-inspired European vanities from the
19th and 20th centuries. The former is one of the world's best. The 400 pieces of precious
huanghuali and zitan (wood) furniture are shown in rotating exhibitions that change every
six months. The only way to visit is by contacting the museum at least a day in advance to
join a small tour. Visitors can touch or sit on the pieces which are not separated by rope or
glass. The vanities collection shows gem-studded clutches and toiletry cases in intricate
Chinoiserie motifs popular in art nouveau and art deco.
