Price Ranges
The price indicators below are based on a two-course meal with a drink.
$ less than HK$200
$$ HK$200 to HK$500
$$$ more than HK$500
Opening Hours
Lunch 11am-3pm
Dinner 6-11pm
Some restaurants are open through the afternoon, while others are also open for break-
fast. Most restaurants open on Sunday and close for at least two days during the Lunar
New Year.
Reservations
Most restaurants (midrange or above) take reservations. At very popular addresses
booking is crucial, especially for weekend dinners. Popular restaurants may serve two
or even three seatings a night.
How Much?
Forty dollars will buy you noodles and some greens, or a set meal at fast-food chains
such as Cafe de Coral ( www.cafedecoralfastfood.com ) or Fairwood
( www.fairwood.com.hk ). A proper sit-down lunch in a midrange restaurant costs at least
HK$80 and dinner HK$120 per head. Dinner at upscale restaurants will set you back at
least HK$600 per person.
Tipping
Tipping is not a must as every bill includes a 10% service charge, but this almost always
goes into the owner's coffers, so if you're happy with the service, tip as you see fit. Most
people leave behind the small change.
