a framework for the specification of repair products covered by other
parts of this and other relevant standards.
Table 11.2 lists the main clause headings in EN 1504-9, as issued on 31
December 2008. From Table 11.2 it can be seen that EN 1504-9 sets out the
following methodology:
assessment of the structure and the extent of damage;
determination of the objectives of the repair work;
definition of the available principles for dealing with the identified
deterioration in accordance with the stated objectives;
identification of the specific properties required of the materials to be
used in the repair.
Table 11.3 summarises the common steps in the process of assessment,
specification, site execution and maintenance and monitoring of structures
for repair, as set out in EN 1504-9. Clause numbers to the relevant texts in
EN 1504-9, along with other Parts of the EN 1504 series as appropriate, are
also listed in column 1.
EN 1504-9 is intended to be sufficiently flexible to be used in the various
regulatory and contractual environments within Europe. It is drafted with a
normative text, supplemented by an informative Annex A that has common
clause numbers with the normative section and provides informative comment
on the normative text. For those not familiar with the language of European
Standards, an informative Annex gives supplementary information, the use
