As discussed in several places in this topic, Wikipedia has become the largest
encyclopedia in the world. It was often used as a reference for this topic. Among
the uses of Wikipedia for this topic were lists of companies incorporated in any
given calendar year. Also useful were numerous histories and short descriptions
of thousands of companies. Not all of the Wikipedia descriptions are accurate,
and some may be closer to marketing material than objective discussion. Even so,
Wikipedia is a useful general reference for many topics, including the history of
software and the history of the computer business.
