Table 5.1 shows Turing Award recipients from 1966 through 2012. The awards
are given every year and are very important to the history of computing and soft-
ware; hopefully, readers will not mind the chronological deviation from the 1960s.
This list of awards is probably the most succinct possible way of showing software
engineering progress from the 1960s through the modern era.
