Waibaidu Bridge

China's first steel bridge had an expected lifespan of 40 years but more than a century
later is still going strong. In 2009, the entire double-span bridge was floated to a downstream
workshop for restoration and reinforcement. Today, Waibaidu Bridge continues to carry auto
and foot traffic across Suzhou Creek and provides great views of Pudong to the east and
Hongkou to the west.
