This task has the deliverable of producing the business organizational structure of the company
within SAP based the system organization rules. ASAP provides Structure Modeler documenta-
tion and a corresponding Visio template to help a company in completing this task. This task
is accomplished by arranging a workshop involving the Project Sponsor, SAP Project Manager,
Business Process Team Leader, and key team members. The workshop may have breakaway ses-
sions separately for financial and logistics processes, followed by a session integrating the findings
and conclusions of the individual sessions.
ASAP provides organization structure questionnaire that is used as a basic input for the work-
shop. The questions related to the organizational structure are available in Q&Adb under “Business
Overview Questions” and under each process area of the company. Additional related informa-
tion is available under Enterprise Modeling-Consultant's Handbook in Sap Online Documentation
CD-ROM.
The workshop achieves the following:
1. Help in identifying the existing business organizational structure including the major busi-
ness processes and reporting structures by using the Business Impact Map.
2. Understand organization structures in SAP.
3. Map company's organizational structure requirements, including future requirements, in
terms of organizational elements provided in SAP.
4. Perform cost-benefit analysis and gap analysis of the newly defined organizational structure

5. Iterate and fine-tune the SAP organizational structure.
6. Document the SAP organizational structure.
As a final step, the company approves and accepts the proposed organizational structure across
the company.
13.2.2.5.1 Business Process Definition
After defining, the organization structure follows this task for defining the business processes of
the company in terms of the business processes supported by SAP. This significant input goes on
to the creation of the Business Blueprint document. In the following subsections, we discuss the
various subtasks of this important task:
