5.5 Summary
In this chapter, we looked at several aspects of SAP to substantiate the fact that SAP is the leading
CRM solution there is on the market. Even though it is not directly patterned on various evalu-
ation criteria discussed in Chapter 3 “CRM Evaluation”, this chapter clearly demonstrates the
overwhelming superiority of SAP in all those criteria.
The intelligent use of Internet technology for business operations has already become a critical
success factor for many enterprises. The sudden explosion in e-business implies that beyond-the-
enterprise issues such as customer relationship management (CRM) have become crucial for the
competitiveness of many companies. SAP has always worked with the tremendous foresight and
vision that have powered its growth to its present position as the number one business applica-
tion software company. With the advent of the Internet, SAP truly stands challenged not only to
provide competitive solutions but also to keep on changing and upgrading them continuously on
Internet time.
