Changing Render
settings to create a
night scene
3. In the Render settings, go to the Skybox Material setting and select the circle next to
the word None. This will bring up a materials window. In the search field at the top
of the box, type night and select the StarryNight Skybox material that comes up as a
search result. Unity comes with many preloaded materials, so using the search func-
tion in this window is handy.
4. Double-click the material while in the Render settings to bring its options up in the
Inspector view. There is a Tint setting at the top of the Inspector view. Change this
to a mid-tone gray/blue color so that stars are still visible in the scene, as shown in
Figure 9.16.
5. As a finishing touch, add some point lights around the scene as though your mock
town square had street lamps around it. Remember that these lights are a draft of what
you might eventually import, so now is a good time to try different combinations.
