Applying Your Normal Map
Now it's time to apply your normal map:
1. When baking is finished, go again to the Image menu and select Save As Image. This
will create a new PNG image for your baked normals (Figure 5.45).

mal map
2. Repeat the process for every body part and save the images to files. Once you are
done, you can delete the low-polygon copy of the zombie and the Multires modifiers
from the original. It is a good idea to keep the original since it is most likely in the
center of the 3D grid.
3. Open the new normal maps and your UV image from the previous chapter in your
favorite image-editing program. Using the UVs as a guide, arrange the normal maps
into one file. Fill the negative space with a purple color, as shown Figure 5.46.
4. Return to Blender. Select the Material panel of the Properties editor. If there is
not already a material there, add one. If there is one there, name it something like
Professor Zombie .
5. Go down to the Specular panel of this editor and lower the Intensity setting to 0.
6. Switch to the Texture panel of the Properties editor and add a new texture by clicking
an empty texture slot and clicking the New button.
