Unfortunately, many studies simply ignore both the issue of non-uniform data entry and the issue of
multicollinearity in the explanatory variables. However, there are techniques available that can utilize
all of the procedure and/or diagnosis codes without making either assumption; they will be discussed
in Chapter 4. (Cerrito, 2007) In this chapter, we will restrict our attention to regression. To find the
