In-Depth Information
To help you sort easily through these listings, I've divided the accommodations
into three categories based on the price for a standard double room with bath:
$$$ Higher Priced —Most rooms €100 or more.
$$ Moderately Priced —Most rooms between €65-100.
$ Lower Priced —Most rooms €65 or less.
Prices can change without notice; verify the hotel's current rates online or by
email. For the best prices, always book direct.
Sleeping in Lyon
Hotels in Lyon are a steal compared with those in Paris. Weekends are generally discoun-
ted (Sundays in particular) in this city that lives off business travelers. Prices rise and
rooms disappear when trade fairs are in town, so it's smart to reserve your room in ad-
vance. If you have trouble, the TI can help for free in person or by email ( resa@lyon-
france.com ) . Most of my listings are on the Presqu'île. Hotels have elevators unless oth-
erwise noted, and air-conditioning is a godsend when it's hot (hottest June-mid-Sept). Ex-
pect to push buttons to gain access to many hotels.
On or near Place des Célestins
Bookaheadtosleepinthisclassyyetunpretentiousneighborhood(Métro:Bellecour).Just
a block off the central Place Bellecour and a block to the Saône River, this area gives trav-
elers easy access to Lyon's sights. Join shoppers perusing the upscale boutiques, or watch

nights can be noisy if you score a room facing Place des Célestins.
$$$ Hôtel Globe et Cecil*** is the most professional and elegant of my listings,
