$$ Hôtel la Jabotte**, hidden along an ignored alley a block from the famous
beaches and a 15-minute walk from the old town, is a cozy place that defies the rules.
Nathalie and Pierre run this small beach villa turned boutique hotel with personality: The
colors are rich, the decor shows a personal touch, and most rooms have individual terraces
facing a small, central garden where you'll get to know your neighbor. Rooms are not air-

$$ Hôtel Beau-Site***, my only listing on Cap d'Antibes, is a 10-minute drive
from the old town. It's a terrific value if you want to get away...but not too far away.
(Without a car, you may feel isolated.) This place is a sanctuary, with helpful Nathalie in
charge as well as a pool, a comfy patio garden, and free parking. Rooms are spacious and
comfortable, and several have balconies (standard Db-€90-95, bigger Db-€105-130, even

$ Bastide de la Brague is an easygoing, seven-room bed-and-breakfast hacienda up
a dirt road above Marineland (10-minute drive east of Antibes). It's run by a fun-loving
family (wife Isabelle, who speaks English, hubby Franck, and Mama). Rooms are quite
comfortable, air-conditioned, and affordable; several are made for families. Request the

Antibes, follow signs that read Nice par Bord de la Mer, turn left toward Brague and Mar-
ineland, then right at the roundabout (toward Groules), then take the first left and follow
the signs. Antibes bus #10 drops you five minutes away, and the Biot train station and
buses #200 or #250 are a 15-minute walk away (ask for details when you book). If ar-
ranged in advance, they can pick you up at the train station in Antibes or Biot.
