In-Depth Information
the excellent city map and the self-guided walking tour of old Antibes. The Nice TI has
Antibes maps and the Antibes TI has Nice maps—plan ahead.
Arrival in Antibes
By Train: Bus #14 runs every 30 minutes from the train station (bus stop 50 yards to right
as you exit station) to the gare routière (bus station; near the main TI and old town), and
continues to the fine Plage de la Salis with quick access to the Phare de la Garoupe trail.
Taxis are usually waiting in front of the train station.
To walk to the port, the old town, and the Picasso Museum (15-20 minutes), cross
the street in front of the station, skirting left of Piranha's Café, and follow Avenue de la
Libération downhill as it bends left. At the end of the street, head right along the port, and
continue until you reach the end of the parking lots, then turn right into the old town.
To walk directly to my hotels and to the main TI (15-minute walk to TI), cross the
street to Piranha's Café, turn right, and stay the course for about eight blocks on Avenue
Robert Soleau until you reach the fountain-soaked Place Général de Gaulle.
The last train back to Nice leaves at about midnight.
By Bus: The airport bus (#250) drops you behind the train station (see “Helpful
Hints,”later).Busesfromotherdestinationsusethe bus station attheedgeoftheoldtown

By Car: Day-trippers follow signs to Centre-Ville, then Port Vauban, and park near
the old town walls (first 30 minutes free, about €9/half-day). Walk into the old town
through the last arch on the right. Street parking is free Monday through Saturday from
12:00-14:00 and 19:00-8:00, and all day Sunday. If you're sleeping here, follow Centre-
Ville signs, then signs to your hotel, and get advice from your hotelier on where to park.
(Most hotels have free parking.) The most appealing hotels in Antibes are easiest by car.
Antibes works well for drivers—compared with Nice, parking is easy, it's a breeze to nav-
