Sights in Villefranche-sur-Mer
The Harbor
Browse Villefranche-sur-Mer's minuscule harbor. Although the town was once an import-
ant fishing community, only a few families still fish here to make money. Find the foot-
path that leads beneath the citadel to the sea (by the port parking lot). Stop where the path
hits the sea and marvel at the scene: a bay filled with beautiful sailing yachts. (You might
see well-coiffed captains being ferried in by dutiful mates to pick up their statuesque call
girls.) Local guides keep a list of the world's 100 biggest yachts and talk about some of
them as if they're part of the neighborhood.
