Sadly, after deliberating on the merits of allowing me to reprint the manual which they freely post
on the internet, Sungard Data Management Solutions declined to give me permission to do so. I
made the request in October and after three months they phoned me and declined to give me
permission. The domain www.tradeline.com listed above has moved to http://www.marketdata.
sungard.com/ , but at the time this document was edited the “EXCEL VBA ODBC FUNCTIONS”
manual was still available on the above URLs, and the “EXCEL VBA ODBC FUNCTIONS”
manual could be found using the Google Search Engine at the above URLs using the search terms
“Excel ODBC VBA Functions” or “TLOS_Excel_ODBC_Functions”, which is how I found it in
the first place.
A very nice young lady named Michelle tried to obtain permission for me, and ironically
Sungard was not even aware the document existed
when I inquired about permission to reproduce
it. (see note below.) In any event, it is always handy to have a hard copy available when working
on something, and the author regrets that he was unable to provide it for the readers here.
Hello Brian,
I apologize for the delay getting back to you. What I had expected was a simple process
has had to pass through several departments at several levels (further delayed as the
mega-conference “SunGard World” was last week).
In short, the issue is that neither product management, corporate marketing, nor the
copyright counsel know of this document.
The FAME products were acquired by
SunGard in 2004, and as the copyright for your document is 2002, it is likely some
other SunGard affiliate. I'm sorry to ask, but could you please send me a copy of the
programmers manual? I might then be able to track down what exactly is the copyrighted
material.
Sorry again for the delay.
Michelle
