Axis and legends, etc. The Speed Mode is easily turned off by right-clicking on the Layer indicator
in the corner of the plot (in this case, a “1”) and selecting “Layer Properties”. A tabbed GUI will
appear and, under the “Size/Speed” tab, uncheck the two checkboxes that enable the speed mode.
The plot will now be plotted using all the generated data points. A formatted final plot in Origin
is shown in Figure 9.40.
In the final plot, labels have been added for pressure (X-axis), defect size (Y-axis), and deformation
(Z-axis). A color gradient has also been applied with blue shading denoting minimal deformity and
red shading indicating severe deformity. A user looking at the plot can immediately discern four
things. The deformity of HY-80 steel increases with increasing hull pressure. This deformation is
aggravated by the size of defects present in the steel. The deformation due to particle size and
pressure is more or less linear. If the defect size is kept to a minimum, the deformation in the steel
will be minimized over the pressure range plotted.
