In-Depth Information
There are two cafes on site, including the Café Firefly, which is open to non-visitors to the
park. For those who really want to experience the atmosphere of Durrell there are a num-
ber of luxurious camping pods available for hire.
The success of the captive breeding programme is illustrated by the changes in the numbers
of certain species. For example, the Mauritius Kestrel increased from 4 to 350 and the
Rodrigues Fruit Bat from 350 to 10,000.
During the course of the year there are a number of special events, which are designed to
raise funds to support the work that is being undertaken. This includes the Durrell Dash,
two running races of differing distances, it is normally held in October.
A visit to Durrell is a fascinating and educational experience for people of all ages.
