The Arts Centre hosts a range of performances but is also a popular place to pop in for a
bite to eat.
Jersey Museum is situated close to the Weighbridge, in the heart of St Helier. The Museum
is open daily from 10.00 although in recent years it has started for a couple of months dur-
ing the winter and the exhibits chart the history of Jersey from Neolithic times until the

Jersey Opera House . The present building dates from 1900 although it was severely dam-
aged by fire in 1921. Famous Jersey actress Lillie Langtry has the honour of being the first
person to appear on the stage. It now features a range of quality acts across a broad spec-

Maritime Museum : Located close to St Helier Harbour, this museum gives a fascinating
insight into the Island's rich maritime history as well as providing a home for the Occupa-
tion Tapestry.
St Helier Church there has probably been a chapel on this site since the 10 th century. For
those visitors who are interested in the history of the Island they may want to see the grave
of Major Peirson, who lost his life at the Battle of Jersey in 1781 in the Royal Square.
