Dolmen du Couperon in the north east of the Island
12.) Cycle from St Helier to Corbiere - it is possible to cycle all the way from St
Helier to Corbiere without going on a road, making it ideal for both adults and fam-
ilies, who may be concerned about the traffic levels on some of the islands roads.
Follow the sea front along to St Aubin's; there are several cafes where it is possible
to refresh the inner cyclist before heading up the Railway Walk to Corbiere.
Initially the Railway Walk rises steadily, as far as the playing fields at Les Quen-
nevais, where the gradient suddenly eases with the final couple of miles being re-
latively straightforward. It is possible to stop off at the Les Quennevais Sports
Centre, where there is a very pleasant café, run by an enthusiastic cyclist, and toi-
lets. Returning to St Helier, when leaving Corbiere a pleasant detour is to follow
the road down the hill to Petit Port, around the headland to La Pulente, with great
views of St Ouen's Bay, before heading up La Pulente hill to re-join the Railway
Walk for the run back to St Helier. The return journey is always far easier as it is
downhill for a considerable distance.
