20 must do things
This is a purely personal view of some of the things, which are recommended to both visitors
and residents. Although the ideas are mine I have discussed them with family and friends
with the feeling that they reflect the best of what Jersey has to offer. Go out, explore and
enjoy.
1.) Kayak from St Brelade's - head out from the islands premier tourist beach to-
wards Corbiere lighthouse. En route you will pass the delightful Beauport, a small
bay, which is well worth a visit. The granite cliffs provide a stunning backdrop
and there are some excellent opportunities for the traditional Jersey pastime of cliff
jumping. If you manage to get as far as Corbiere lighthouse you will have exper-
ienced some of the finest sea kayaking in the British Isles. Either bring your own
kayak or book a trip with Absolute Adventures .
Finish the session with a visit to one of the bars, cafes or restaurants, which are loc-
ated all along the front at St Brelade's.
Paddling along the south west coast is great in any weather but most people would
choose a warmer day!
2.) Visit a castle - there are two main castles in Jersey, Elizabeth Castle in St
Aubin's Bay and Mont Orgueil towering above Gorey. Every visitor to the island
should attempt to visit one of these impressive historical monuments, which are only
open during the main tourist season. If you are here in the winter you will have to
be satisfied with ruins of Grosnez Castle, as the other castles are closed. Standing
