In-Depth Information
During an average season there are about 9 race meetings between the opening traditional
fixture on Easter Monday and the end of August. The racing is set against the stunning
backdrop of Grosnez Castle and the view across the sea to the other Islands.
This course was constructed in the late 1950's to replace the one in St Brelade's, which was
built on to provide houses for the area. Prior to St Brelade's the horse racing had taken
place on Grouville Common, an area, which is now part of the Golf Course.
For the foreseeable future though the home of horse racing in Jersey will remain at Les
Landes, with its magnificent scenery.
Horse Riding: There are a number of establishments, which offer opportunities for riders
of all abilities. One of the pleasures of Jersey is to be able to ride on the beach although
the hours are limited between May and September.
Ice Skating: Not a sport for which the island is generally well know but in the last few
years a skating rink has been constructed over the Christmas period to allow locals and vis-
itors to sample the thrills of ice skating.

are organised by the Jersey Motorcycle and Light Car Club . There are a number of differ-
ent events including:

Point, St John.
Hill Climb: The first Bouley Bay Hill Climb was organised in 1920, now there are 4 meet-
ings a year when cars, karts and motor cycles race up the 1011 yard course, from the bot-
tom of Bouley Bay to the top of the hill, negotiating numerous hairpin bends.
Sprints: The Sprints are held on a stretch of the Five Mile Road between La Pulente and Le
Braye, it is essentially a speed trial along a closed section of public roads.
