Most shops are open from 09.00 to 5.30 Monday to Saturday, with nearly all shops, apart
from a few convenience stores, closed on a Sunday. The two markets have kept the Jer-
sey tradition of closing early on a Thursday. In the run up to Christmas most shops remain
open late on a Thursday, when the streets of St Helier are crowded with festive shoppers.
During the course of the year a number of outdoor markets are held in St Helier and at St
Aubin, just in front of the Parish Hall. These are ideal locations for seeking out some un-
usual arts and crafts or some fresh Jersey farm produce.
