Cycling: There are a number of companies, which offer cycle hire, for example, Zebra
Cycles (01534 736556), on the Esplanade opposite the Liberation Bus Station. Also in St
Helier is Jersey Bike Hire (07797914452), although based in Gloucester Street, they will
deliver across the Island.
In St Aubin, there is Jersey Cycle Hire (01534 746780), which is found in the German tun-
nels, just off the Railway Walk. When these tunnels were excavated by the German's the
rubble was dumped on the beach over the back of St Aubin's Harbour, close to the Royal
Channel Islands Yacht Club, spoiling a perfectly good sandy beach.
If you want more than a hire bike then it is possible to join an organised bike tour with
an experienced local guide. Contact Arthur Lamy (01534 853525) to see what the various
options are.
For the more competitively minded cyclists there are a number of Clubs, which offer an
active racing programme.
Some recommended cycle routes include:
1. West Park to Corbiere. This route along the south coast of Jersey is off
road all of the way and so is particularly suitable for families and less con-
fident riders. The first section is along the waterfront from St Helier to St
Aubin's before joining up with the Railway Walk, for the climb away from
the coast. There are a number places along the route where it is possible to
purchase refreshments.
