In-Depth Information
16 New Street: Built in the 1730's, 16 New Street is a superb example of a Georgian town
house, perhaps the best surviving example in St Helier. It has had a varied history, at vari-
ous times being used by the YMCA, de Gruchy's department store used as a manufactur-
ing base for curtains and as a storage area. For 20 years it was neglected though until the
building restored by the National Trust. It opened its doors to the public for the first time
on the 5 th November 2011.
It is normally open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from April until November and
then just on Saturday's until just before Christmas.
As it is in the town centre there is no parking available onsite.
