Military installations from two different centuries, Grosnez Castle from the 14 th and St
Aubin's Fort from the 16 th .
St Aubins Fort: Built in the 1540's and extended during the following centuries, including
by the German's in the 1940's, St Aubins Fort protects the nearby harbour. Access is relat-
ively straightforward across a causeway, which is uncovered as the tide drops. Today it is
used as an activity by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, with schools using
it as a residential base.
If you do head out to the Fort just ensure that you are not trapped by the rising tide as it
will be a long wait until the causeway uncovers again.
