separation into two continents occurs 135 million years ago, the Northern continent
Laurasia has been separated from the Southern continent Gondwanaland .
Laurasia was formed by the collision of two small continents: Laurentia (now
North America) and Baltica (which now comprises a major part of Europe and
European Russia). Gondwanaland was already a super-continent in its own right
extending from the equator to the South Pole. The separation began when the
Indian isle began moving towards the North.
