ARRIVAL, INFORMATION AND TOURS
COROZAL
By bus Buses from Belize City run roughly hourly (daily
5.30am-7.30pm) to Corozal (2hr 30min). The main bus
stop is about two blocks west of the centre.
Destinations Belize City (hourly; 2hr 30min), via Orange
Walk (1hr); Chetumal (hourly; under 1hr).
By boat The Thunderbolt travels to San Pedro, Ambergris
Caye (1hr 30min), leaving from the dock daily at 7am and
3pm. It's important to call ahead, because in low season
the schedule is sometimes limited.
By plane Both Tropic Air and Maya Island Air operate daily
flights between Corozal and San Pedro (25 min).
El Ranchito Airport is a few miles south of town, and taxis
generally meet all flights.

Tours All hotels have information on local tours or offer
trips themselves. The reliable Belize Transfer and Tours

to Maya sites in the area, watersports and more.

bright, elegant rooms and leafy, landscaped grounds with a

retire to simple but well-maintained rooms with

Hotel Maya South of the centre T 422 2082,

with a/c and cable TV. The upstairs balcony has sea views,
and tasty breakfasts are served at the downstairs
restaurant. The owner has extensive local knowledge on
the surrounding region , and there are also several long-
stay apartments. US$45
Mirador Hotel 4th Ave, at 2nd St South, near the
seafront T 422 0189, W mirador.bz. Large, well-
maintained hotel with rooftop views both across the bay
and over Corozal, best enjoyed from the hammocks. Rooms
(of varying sizes) come equipped with cable TV, and some
have a/c and bay views. US$35
Las Palmas 123 5th Ave South, between 4th & 5th

Spacious white-painted hotel with a variety of room styles,
all with a/c and refrigerators and microwave. It als o has ve ry

Sea Breeze Hotel 23 1st Ave T 422 3051
T Theseabreezehotel.com. Friendly, popular hotel with
tidy ro oms, so me with bay views. It also offers boat trips to
Cerros. US$25
Serenity Sands 3 miles north of Corozal, off Consejo
Rd T 669 2394, W serenitysands.com. This relaxed, eco-
friendly resort lives up to its name, with quiet rooms hung
with local artwork, each with balcon y and waterfront
views. Buffet breakfast included. US$80
Ì Tony's Inn and Beach Resort South End, 1.8 miles
south of the centre T 422 2055, W tonysinn.com. The
large rooms with a/c and king-sized (or two double) beds
overlook landscaped gardens and an inviting beach bar,
and the hotel's Y-Not Grill & Bar is excellent, and a prime
spot to con nect wi th locals and expats, over grilled seafood
and meats. US$85
EATING AND DRINKING
June's Kitchen 3rd St South T 422 2559. Feast on a
range of local dishes, from rice and beans with roast pork to
conch soup (from Bz$10) served by Miss June herself.
Breakfast is also tops, with fat omelettes, hash browns
(Bz$10) and fresh orange juice. Hours vary, but generally
Mon-Sat 7am-11am & noon-3pm.
Patty's Bistro 4th Ave, at 2nd St T 402 0174. Stop by
this family restaurant for excellent, well-priced Belizean,
Mexican and American dishes, from fresh snapper to grilled
chicken to burritos (mains from Bz$15); don't miss the
superb conch soup. Mon-Sat 11am-9pm.
RD's Diner 25 4th Ave T 422 3796. This inviting
restaurant features diverse offerings at mid-range prices
(mains from Bz$10), from Belizean dishes cooked on a
traditional “fire hearth” to Mexican fajitas and quesadillas
to burgers. It also serves hearty breakfasts - with good
brewed coffee. Mon-Sat 7am-11pm, Sun 7am-3pm.
Y-Not Grill & Bar South End, 1.8 miles south of the
centre T 422 2055, W tonysinn.com. Enjoy waterfront
sunset views along with grilled meats and seafood, fajitas,
roast chicken and burgers. Mains Bz$15-40. Daily
11am-11pm.
Santa Rita
Northwest of Corozal; follow the main road towards the Mexican border and bear left at the fork, bringing you to the raised archeological
site • No set opening hours, but best to visit only during daylight hours • Free
