Conclusion
By now you should have a pretty good idea of some of the basic genres
and gameplay types that exist out there. New ones are being created all
the time so, think of each of these as potential ingredients in a recipe.
Put in a little action, add some FPS with a Hack-and-Slash approach, and
an RPG coni guration with some puzzles and leveling up, and you might
just i nd yourself working on a hit game! The audio design for each of
these games will also be an individual, tailored approach to whatever
recipe has been created. Note that we're not even including settings like
horror, sci-i , fantasy, etc., which will also inl uence your decision-making
process. Knowing the conventions, rules and standards will allow you to
break the mold when needed. Creative audio design is an important part
of what makes a good game.
