because you can actually get a chance at some face time with almost
anyone in the industry! Here is a short list of some of the most important
ones out there. There are new shows cropping up all the time, so do your
research and i nd out what's hot!
You should plan to attend at least one per year, and yes, they do cost
money. You may be able to save on the cost of the event by volunteering
your time to help during the event. If you are more experienced, you can
suggest papers and talks, or make yourself available to speak on panels.
Don't be afraid to reach out to the organizers and let them know you
are available and interested in taking part—you might just save yourself
quite a bit of money and get your networking in, all at the same time.

AES
The Audio Engineering Society is the only professional society devoted
exclusively to audio technology. Founded in the United States in 1948,

promoting advances in audio and disseminating new knowledge and
research. Every year, the AES runs a trade show rotating from east coast
to west. Over the years the Audio Engineering Society has become ever
more friendly to game audio and now runs its own track in the state of
the art for game sound. The AES has over 14,000 members and supports
a number of education initiatives. It is yet another great place to meet
and network with professional audio folks who are movers and shakers
