You must i nd a way to let folks know what you are up to. In this overcrowded day and age, press and
publicity are a must. Social media, websites, tweeting and more are required. Let people frequently know
what you are up to and what projects you are working on by keeping your networks updated.
6. Critical Mass
You do the same thing long enough, keep making stuf , and sooner or later you will reach a tipping point.
The author Malcolm Gladwell in his topic Outliers frequently refers to the 10,000 hour mark as a point for
excellence, meaning that if you've done anything for that many hours you've essentially mastered that
skill, and your work will rel ect this mastery. There are so many examples of this. There are also a number
of examples of geniuses that died poor and lonely despite that mastery. Well, you choose a career in the
arts, and risk is part of the game.

You need to spend time thinking about your ideal job in this narrow yet
diverse realm. It's important that you try to i nd a job that you enjoy and
are passionate about. Passionate workers create the highest quality work.
Remember The Lord of the Rings i lm trilogy? Almost everyone on the set
and in the crew was a huge fan of the topics, so everyone involved was
dedicated to making something worthwhile and beautiful. Costume
designers spent hundreds of hours making elaborate designs that
appeared on screen for only a few seconds—that's how passionate they
