Results
The sample was nearly equally divided between male and female respondents.
Among the 449 users who responded to the survey, 51.2% were female and 47.9%
were male. 1% of the respondents declined to state their sexual orientation or skipped
the question. Many of the respondents (61%) were aged 23 or over, followed by those
aged between 18 and 22 years (38.8%). Only one student under the age of 18
answered the questionnaire. With regard to respondents' current academic level, the
majority of the respondents were undergraduates (58%) and the rest were
postgraduates (42%). Figure 1 details students' academic level. The majority of
respondents were master's students (27.4%), followed by third year undergraduates
(26.3%), doctoral students (15.4%), fourth year undergraduates (11.6%), and second
year undergraduates (11.4%). Sixth grade students (interns) of the Faculty of
Medicine (4.4%) and first year students (3.6%) are least represented in this survey.
Freshman students' reluctance to answer the questionnaire is understandable given
their limited course-research experience.
Fig. 1. Academic level of students
Regarding area of study, regardless of major, it was observed that most of the
respondents were from the social sciences (47.9%), followed by the natural sciences
with 20.5%, humanities with 17.6%, and health sciences with 13.6%. These results
reflect the statistical ratio of graduates to postgraduates, as well as that of social
science students to humanities students, in the general student population as reported
by the university [7].
