THE LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH
T he ride from Lothal continued on to Dasada, the base camp for tourists visiting the
Desert of Kutch. We had thoroughly explored areas south of Kutch, and north of Bhuj in-
cluding permit areas. Little Rann of Kutch, in east Gujarat, remained. Little Rann of Kutch
is a sanctuary for the unique wild asses of India as well as a haven for migratory birds. The
word "Rann" is from Sanskrit meaning waste.
