TIP: Always ask in remote (and not so remote)
destinations if hot water is only available at
certain hours, the case at Lion Safari Camp.
Otherwise, you are in for a nasty shock,
jumping in the shower and turning on what
you think is hot water.
Shown first to our deluxe tent, and then into the river-facing, crowded restaurant for
lunch. The first game drive wouldn't begin until 3:00p. All meals are served buffet style, but
you can order eggs at breakfast. Indian buffets give people a chance to try different foods.
Chicken, vegetables, fresh naan , rice and Gulab Jamun for dessert. Gulab Jamun is small,
fried dough balls, drenched in very sweet, sugary syrup, and delicious.
A local musician, wearing traditional clothing, entertained at dinner each night playing
a stringed instrument. His music alternated between typical Indian songs to a rendition of
Frere Jacques that absolutely set my teeth on edge.
Lion Safari Camp had good food, good staff, and ambiance. Don't expect total silence
through the night with 20 tents in proximity. Ask your tour operator about their recommen-
ded home stays and hotels.
