Dancing With The Mir Women at Rann Riders
After dinner, Niru informed me that the owner had arranged a dance for guests by a
local Mir tribe. I won't bore you with dance details performed by Mir women, wearing large,
plastic bangles on both arms that extended from wrists to shoulders. Can you believe they
wear those bangles even working in the fields? That would drive me crazy! They wore
clothes with different patterns, laden with sequins, in all colors of the rainbow. Silverlooking
anklets, toe rings, heavy earrings, and hair ornaments rounded off the “bling” appearance.
It's interesting how each woman does "their own thing" without worrying about, if someone
else thinks they are coordinated.
The YouTube.com video shows klutzy me, who was forced into the dance. Each time
I tried to break out (totally pooped), the strong little Mir woman grabbed me by the wrist,
and pulled me back into the dance with her. Fifteen minutes of watching the women circle
around, and around, was more than enough; a visit to their village was on tomorrow's itiner-
ary along with a jeep safari to “look for the wild asses.” (Don't laugh!)
