Though Brazil's record World Cup wins (and eight Copa América victories, the
last in 2007) makes them the undisputed kings of the sport, tournaments since have
been disappointments: in 2006 traditional bugbears France beat an overhyped but
underperforming Brazil side, while in 2010 the Brazilians were unceremoniously
knocked out in the quarter-finals by the Netherlands. In the 2011 Copa América
(South America's regional competition), Brazil also faired poorly, knocked out in the
quarter-finals by Paraguay. Playing at home, however, in the 2014 World Cup , it's a
brave person who would bet against them.
