Lapa
LAPA
is a sleepy provincial town that was founded in 1731 on the trail linking Rio
Grande do Sul to the once important cattle market in Sorocaba, near São Paulo. As
Lapa is one of the very few towns in Paraná's interior that has made any efforts to
preserve its late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century buildings - typical rustic
Portuguese-style colonial structures - the town has become a favourite place for Sunday
excursions from Curitiba. It's also the chance to sample
paranaense
cooking - rare in
Curitiba itself - that makes Lapa really worth a visit.
