Curitiba is especially well endowed with cultural centres, and the
Memorial de Curitiba
is
one of the biggest, a jarringly modern edifice opened in 1996 in the heart of the historic
district. In addition to a regular schedule of performances, changing exhibits and lectures,
the interior features a series of exuberant murals by local artist Sérgio Ferro and permanent
sculptures by Poty Lazzarotto, Ricardo Todd, João Turin and other Brazilian artists.
