Mosqueiro
MOSQUEIRO
, some 70km east of Belém, is actually an island but well connected to
Belém by a good road and bridge; the ride is pleasant, and a fine opportunity to see the
country beyond the city. Unfortunately, the beaches close to the town are picturesque
but too dirty to swim at, and you need to take a local bus from the main square to the
best option,
Praia do Paraíso
, about half an hour away. Stay on the bus until the end of
the line and you'll find yourself at a gorgeous headland, with a hotel behind you and a
clean, swimmable beach in front.
