1. Repentigny
The small farming community of Repentigny, located just 20 miles north of Montreal, wel-
comesvisitorstotheKing'sRoad,or Chemin du Roy, asQuebecoiscallit(nearly95percent
of residents claim French as a first language). Early settlers planted themselves along the
fertile banks of the St. Lawrence River, harnessing the waterway for trade and milling. The
town's historic gristmill, Moulin Grenier, now houses a museum and looks much the same
today as when it was built in 1820.
