Loess Hills Scenic Byway
If you think Iowa is flat, you're in for a surprise when you visit the Loess Hills,
a region of tall, grassy ridges—some as tall as 200 feet—along the western fringe
of our nation's breadbasket.
Length: About 220 miles
When to go: April to November
Words to the wise: Check local road conditions and beware of slow-moving farm
equipment.
