9. Bow Lake
One ofthe most beautiful lakes located along the parkway,Bow Lake offers more than just
aprettyview.Followtheturnoffforred-roofedNum-Ti-JahLodge,visiblealongthelake's
shoreline. Here you'll find shoreline trails and a 5.6-mile hike to Bow Glacier Falls.
10. Peyto Lake
At an elevation of 6,781 feet, Bow Summit Pass is the highest point on the parkway, and
a turnoff here for Peyto Lake truly meets the definition of overlook, as visitors can look
over an astounding vista for miles. Petyo Lake is the star attraction. From the parking lot,
a short paved trail leads to several well-established lookout platforms perched above the
lake'screamyblue-greenwater.Thecolorcomesfromthequantityofglacial“flour”orsilt
present in the meltwaters that flow from the Wapta Icefield just west of this basin, a char-
acteristic shared with other glacial lakes in the park.
