Environmental Engineering Reference
In-Depth Information
6.3.2.1.1 Refrigerators, Freezers and Combined Appliances
The energy efficiency labels for freezers and refrigerators are shown in
Figure  6.5; the index is calculated for each appliance according to its con-
sumption and its compartments' volume, taking into account the appliance
type. The index is thus not calculated in KWh.
The label also contains:
1. The annual energy consumption in KWh per year
2. The capacity of fresh foods in litres for refrigerators and combined
appliances
3. The capacity of frozen foods in litres for freezers and combined
appliances
4. The noise in dB(A)
For cold appliances (and this product alone), for models that are more eco-
nomical than those of category A, categories A+ and A++ have been assigned.
6.3.2.1.2 Washing Machines, Tumble Dryers and Combined Appliances
For washing machines, the energy efficiency scale is calculated using a cot-
ton cycle at 60°C with a maximum declared load (as shown in Figure  6.6).
This load is typically 6 kg. The energy efficiency index is in KWh per kilo-
grams of washing.
The energy label also contains information on
1. Total consumption per cycle
2. Washing performance, with a class from A to G
3. Spin drying performance, with a class from A to G
4. Maximum spin speed
5. The total cotton capacity in kg
