In-Depth Information
Romania
BUS
There's only one bus a day from Chernivtsi to Suceava (71uah, four hours, 7.10am). The
short journey is drawn out by a lengthy border stop, as it's a popular smuggling route. You
may be able to catch an unofficial marshrutka from near Chernivtsi bus station.
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
There are three Ukraine- Romania road crossings, only two of them important. The main
crossing is 40km south of Chernivtsi, where the E85 (A269) crosses between Porubne in
Ukraine and Siret in Romania. The other is the bridge between Solotvyno in Ukraine and
Sighetu Marmației on the Romanian side.
TRAIN
The only connection between Ukraine and Romania is the Kyiv-Bucharest Nord trains (25
hours, one daily). Some local elektrychky (electric trains) from Chernivtsi stop at the bor-
der.
Russia
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
The main route between Kyiv and Moscow starts as the M01 (E95) north of Kyiv and be-
