Musical and educational events are held regularly. The centre's curator conducts a tour of
the premises at 11am most Saturdays. Unfortunately, true to its name, it is so isolated
from the rest of the city, one can only reach it via a bus station, which itself is on the out-
skirts. So invest 40uah or so in a taxi ride. An additional complication is that it is only
open on weekends.

The city's pioneering hostel is a classical converted flat affair run
by a friendly family. It's been getting consistently positive reviews since it was inaugur-
ated by England fans during Euro-2012. It only consists of a four-bed dorm and a single
room, so don't expect to put up a football team here!

About the only building left of the tsarist-era Donetsk, the Great Britain - built in
John Hughes' times to house Western engineers - oozes heaps of olde-worlde charm.
However, the location is crummy and it gets stiflingly hot in summer. A few notable Rus-
sian writers passed through a century ago, leaving unflattering comments in their mem-
oirs, and there was a brothel for German officers here during WWII. Breakfast isn't
served on weekends.

Gilded figures of John, Paul, George and Ringo greeting you in the archway may not be
a good sign, but there is much more to Liverpool than belated provincial Beatlemania. In
fact, this is one of the city's funkiest alternative universes, which, apart from the hotel,
includes a great cafeteria and one of the best musical venues in eastern Ukraine.
