Getting There & Away
AIR
Kharkiv's Osnova airport ( 657, 090 031 6571; www.hrk.aero ) handles international
flights to/from Vienna, Warsaw, Moscow, Dubai, Barcelona and Kutaisi in Georgia, as
well as a single domestic service to/from Kyiv (one hour 20 minutes, two daily).
BUS
The most useful services from the central bus station ( 732 6502; pr Gagarina 22; pr
Gagarina) are to Poltava (46uah to 75uah, 2½ hours, hourly), Dnipropetrovsk (77uah, 4½
hours, hourly) and Donetsk (80uah to 140uah, 4½ hours, six daily).
Autolux ( www.autolux.ua ) and Gunsel ( www.gunsel.com.ua ) run several buses a day to
Kyiv, including some overnight services.
TRAIN
The main station is Pivdenny Vokzal ( Pivdenny Vokzal) . Foreigners should head
straight to the i i (open 7.30am to 8.30pm ), on the right as you walk from the main hall
to the ticket booths as it has English-speaking staff and no queues.
By far the fastest way to get to/from Kyiv is aboard the Intercity+ service (230uah, 4½
hours, three daily), which does the run twice as fast as the normal passenger trains
(181uah, nine hours, four daily). Intercity+ trains stop in Poltava (135uah, 1½ hours).
