For the uninitiated,
salo
is the raw pig fat that Ukrainians love to slip down with vodka and use an an in-
gredient in national dishes. This 'museum' is more of a gallery in a restaurant where you
can pay homage to
salo
at the
salo
monument and wonder at pieces of modern art and
sculpture made of the stuff, some of which can be ordered to eat. It's free to wander
round or 40uah gets you an audio guide and tasting session involving 14 different types
of
salo
.
Apteka Museum

This pharmacy museum is
located inside a still-functioning chemist's shop dating from 1735. Entrance into the eerie
pidval
(basement) is by request only. Bottles of medicinal wine with a high iron content
can be bought here (temporary tooth discolouration is all part of the fun); just ask for

Lviv's most stunning baroque interior belongs to the 17th-century now
Greek Catholic Church of St Andrew. The highlight is the long ceiling covered in re-
cently restored frescoes. Sunday masses spill out into the street, filling the surrounding
square with song.

This unimaginatively curated mu-
seum has a few interesting pieces of furniture, Czech glass, Art Nouveau posters (Mucha,
Lautrec) and various 19th- and 20th-century decorative items from across Europe, the
whole caboodle scattered throughout an interestingly run-down palace. The ethnography
section is currently in storage awaiting the green light to move into a new home at pl
Rynok 10. Due to a lack of funds, this isn't expected to happen anytime soon.
